How to decorate the ideal Studio!

Updated: Sep 10, 2019

If you have been keeping up with the Art Pros Podcast you probably already know that the ideal art studio is a must-have for any paid artist. Check out our article on setting up the ideal studio(link needed) in order to get caught up. The tl;dr of it is that you’ll need great lighting, lots of space and the tools of your trade. Check out this handy and frequently updated list we've compiled on the Essential Studio Tools.

So you got that epic-studio-warehouse-party-gallery-DIY space in the heart of Downtown Baltimore, New Mexico. You want lots of visitors right? Well it is going to be hard to compete with Area 51 right down the street. Aliens, VR headsets, and spooky space secrets? How will you ever tear the art elite away from their military raid? Well according to experts in our field a good way to get some attention in the studio is to add a little greenery to a space. Plants make for an inviting and eccentric space.

Take those beautiful windows and make a point to place a couple of tasteful flora. House plants welcome. We also suggest succulents, some benefits of the succulents include their vibrant coloring and their ease of care. Succulents require almost no effort to maintain so they are perfect for the lazy and busy artist on the go.

Oh my god you know what is really cool in a studio? Plants. With Climate change being the new hip and impending doom it is important for artists to be the tip of the spear when it comes to societal change. Its important to signal your virtue; your love of nature and plants by adding a couple more plants to the studio. If you're vegan make sure to add a couple of edible plants like tomatoes and carrots so that you have an excuse to bring up how you are "vegan" and prefer to grow your own "food". No-one needs to know that you "forget" you're vegan when you're drunk and just love a 2$ slice of pepperoni pizza after you go to see your friends Noise Show for the bargain of a 15$ friends-of-the-DJ discount.

Ok so now you have a couple plants, but ironically you still feel as though visitors don't understand just how concerned you are about climate change. Despite verbalizing your awareness that climate change predominantly affects low-income areas, you get the sneaking suspicion that your studio visitors don't understand just HOW much you like plants and nature. Instead of telling visitors about your grant funded trip to Brazil to post images on IG of low income laborers, why don't you put a couple of plants you picked up on your travels around the room. When they ask you about your Brazilian carnivorous plants you can go into how bad the coffee industry is for the environment without ever having to betray the fact that you just wanted a tax-payer funded free vacation under the guise of documenting the trials and tribulations of 3rd world poverty. No one will ever suspect that your concern is just a thin veil hiding your fetish to vicariously experience struggle through a disenfranchised analogue. #triggered

If you've made it this far, you have clearly missed the point of this article. In order to decorate the IDEAL ARTISTS STUDIO you should really be attempting to rudimentarily terraform the inside of your studio. While you likely lack the engineering background to actually develop a functioning ecosystem you can die happy knowing you tried. Why go out and join a growing urban farming movement to decentralize food manufacturing when you can create an insular Garden of Eden within your safe space. With your interior design finally complete and all visitors set into a state of awe and amazement at your love of nature and awareness of climate change, you can finally begin to make some art. Whoops your dead now sorry. Luckily the smoothest and most accessible art podcast on the internet, The Art Pros Podcast, is spooky ghost compatible so check us out in 4d on Spotify, Apple, and Stitcher.
